Hi,
I am 5 weeks PG with my 2nd Child right now, but this time I am SO worried I will lose it. I had a awesome PG the 1st time, with no problems, but this time, I am so scared I will lose it for some reason.
I was told if you don't have morning sickness you have a higher chance of miscarring it. I never with my 1st, but for some reason, I just can't stop thinking about this.
I am suppose to go for a check up on the 13th? What will they check on me? Will they give me a pap, I have heard from women bleeding from that, while PG. Any suggestions?

Thanks

You are unlikely to have a pap during pregnancy. It true that high levels of HCG which maintain the pregnancy do make you feel sick, but many women sail through the whole thing without so much as a touch of nausea and have perfectly healthy babies.
I actually know how you feel. I was that way with my second too. All along I had the conviction that there was going to be something wrong with him. There wasn't and hes a strapping 18 year old now :)
Try and relax, stress will not help you or the baby. At the check up discuss your fears with the doctor or midwife and ask any questions you have. Good luck, I'm sure all will be fine with you as it was with me.

This is typical paranoia and if you're not having an indicators of miscarriage, you're probably fine.

As for the checkup, they'll do a urine sample, maybe some blood tests, measure your abdominal circumference, palpitate your fundus (top of the uterus), and possibly do a visual and bimanual exam (though I doubt they'll do a pap at this time). If the doc does perform a pap smear, the bleeding - IF it occurred - would be from irritation to the cervix, not from causing a miscarriage. However, like I said, they probably won't perform a pap.

Make a list of your questions and concerns, so that when you have the doctor in front of you, you can address everything then.

yes you will have a pap and it probably will bleed a little. There is that rumor that if you dont have morning sickness baby is not as healthy, but there are times when that has been proven not true. so don't get yourself worked up over it. It is just 2 weeks. and at 5 weeks maybe you just haven't got the moring sickness yet it may come later. Tell your doctor of your conserns.

People tell Pregnant Women the most horrible things!
I'm sorry that someone told you that "no morning sickness' is a bad sign. Be happy you don't have Morning sickness, and it just means you don't have it, and you're blessed!
At the next office visit, you can ask your doctor all the questions you have in your mind and no, Pap Smears will not cause you to lose your baby.
Good luck.

That's totally false and ridiculous, I never ever had morning sickness with my child and everything was fine. My sister had 4 children and never had morning sickness with any of them and they were all fine as well. The only thing that might cause a miscarriage is you stressing about this, don't worry you and your baby will be fine. By the way Congratulations.

I never had morning sickness with either of my pregnancies and both boys were born perfectly healthy. If you've had a previous pregnancy then you should know what the check-up will entail.
Don't worry....everything will be fine...think happy thoughts and don't let the negative thoughts rule your life.

Take it as a blessing that your not feeling sick. I had my head in the toilet for the first three months during both of my pregnancies. I know that it is easier said than done, but try to relax!

who in the heck told you that if you don't have morning sickness you have a higher chance of miscarrying? That is ridiculous, has no foundation in medical fact, and whoever told you that should be slapped!

Don't worry. You are and your baby are fine, and will be fine.

Peace, and God Bless!

if you are not experiencing any problems don't worry. If you don't have a history of miscarring then you probably will be safe. During your first check up they will check the protien in your urine instruct you in nutrition and check you abdoman. you will be ok..just have faith it will be ok! Good luck

in case you dont sense tender about it, tell him. if he leaves when you tell him tht then he doesnt fairly love you. in the experience that your no longer waiting and your scared and also you dont imagine its the right time then DONT do it. tell him the way you sense, communicate about it at the same time. be up the front about each little thing. thts a sturdy ingredient to have in a relationship. sturdy luck.! <3
