From The Hermetica

The Hermetic is a collection of Greek writings, that were supposedly attributed to the Egyptian God of Magic,Thoth.
Thoth was the messenger the dispatcher of the divine messages of the Gods.
Hence the association given him with the Greek god Hermes.
Thoth, was also on hand to record the fate of each person during their judgement by The Law of Ma'at.
There is no evidence to suggest that these writing were ever part of ancient Egyptian religious liturgy.
However they are in themselves, quite beautiful descriptions of earth's creation, birth, life, death, the soul, rebirth and immortality.
The natural magic that is in all things.
But they were written many years after the fall of the Egypt, to the Romans.
The collective writings are referred to as,The Hermetica ,
The Writings of Hermes Trismegistos or the thrice great Hermes.
They were made popular in the 1970s, by new age authors such as Peter Gandy.
Who claimed wrongly, that they had discovered the long lost wisdom of the Pharaohs.
There is no mention or evidence of their existence or use during Pharonic Egypt
