I think it's disgraceful. The little creatures who suffer this fate only wanted to be loved. The death penalty, regardless of how many times the offender has committed the offense, should be given for this.

Cruelty is in the eyes of the beholder. There is a wide range of lab and experimental work done on animals that many consider necessary for the good of mankind. Yet others would call such work cruel.

Some organizations, like PETA, consider any work on animals cruel simply because said animals have no say in their being used as "guinea pigs." PETA would rather that all such tests and experiments be performed on human volunteers who have a choice and make it. In this scenario, most of the volunteers would likely be the poor who are desperate for the money, but do not represent humankind as a whole. In which case, any test results would be unlikely to be valid for research purposes.

NOTE: The person who quoted M. Ghandi should be aware that cows in India are sacred; so they multiply and pollute the Earth with their methane (aka poop). They are also grossly underfed because there are so many and India is a poor nation. Is letting them live in starving conditions (for both human and cow) cruel or not? You judge.

I am a vegetarian, I never killed any animal and I cannot see the flowing blood. Maneka Gandhi is talking about cruelty on animals, but she is not a vegetarian. If they want kill and eat, but it should not be in cruel way. I have seen a horrible scene on a Eid Day morning - slaughtering a pregnant cow & still fouling while removing the skin.

It is the proof that humans can be evil creatures.
We are animals, after all. We're just the only ones who use pointless violence for entertainment.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

Nothing.

It isn't a very big issue. The few that actually abuse animals generally get caught.
