If your entire task bar has disappeared it is possible that you clicked and dragged the task bar off screen without noticing. Try moving your mouse to the bottommost portion of your screen. Click and drag upwards. If it doesn't work the first time repeat the process. When you get the task bar back up to normal right click and select the option "lock the task bar." If it is just the start button that has disappeared I would try locating the windows icon on your keyboard and pressing it (if you have it.) If nothing else pres ctrl+alt+del at the same time a screen will pop up pres ctrl+alt+del again and hold it down. This should force your computer into a hard shut down. Restart your computer.

I hope some of this has helped!

Ensure that:

↓ Auto hide is not on - scroll your mouse to the bottom of the window (screen) to see if it pops up. If so then simply right hand click, go to properties and remove the auto hide que.

If this fails then go to :

control panel
Tool bars
Click fix tool bar to desktop

Should work.
