My children have been taught from a young age to help out those less fortunate than themselves. Each week they set aside ten percent of their allowance for charity. They also volunteer on a regular basis. While I do believe that charity starts at home, I also feel that the government bears some responsibility for the welfare of its citizens.

It's part of living in a society. In a society the strong protect the weak. We all take care of each other. If you don't like it, go live on an island somewhere. See what your money will do for you...

We choose to teach our kids about charity in everything we do in our daily lives. the simpliest methods are alms giving at church and cleaning your room and giving clothes and stuff to charity.

We DO teach our kids that. You choose to teach yours to be greedy, selfish, callous and nasty, I guess.
