I think it's true. Many people like to see others in the same bad situation that they are in. It makes them feel good to know that they are not alone.

No cliche. It's true! Misery loves company. There's nothing more comforting when you're sad than having someone who feels the same way sympathize with you. Unfortunately a lot of people aren't that compassionate. There's another saying, equally true: "Laugh & the world laughs with you, cry & you cry alone..." Many people don't want to be around you when you're sad. I'm trying to be more positive & happy these days but sometimes I just need a good cry! & it's nice when someone else understands the way I feel.

Misery does love company.
Misery loves an audience.
Ever notice that when someone has dumped their crap all over you, they go away happy?
Misery doesn't hang around too long after the misery has been shared.

It IS a cliche. However, there are many instances where miserable folks get together to commiserate and that is where the cliche originated.
There are those who want to be completely left alone when they are miserable, or who are so intolerable to be around that everyone leaves them alone anyway.

Misery NEEDs company to overcome itself, but LOVES TO SEEK company in order to perpetuate itself.

yes, misery makes you attract the same unless you make honorable desision to go through misery solo without notifying no one....without complains even to yourself...then misery changes its form, becomes a task to solve. not misery any more.

Definitely true...
Proof?
Anyone in a bad mood doesn't run up to you and say "Isn't today wonderful!"
They go on complaining until you find yourself in the deep dark tunnel that they are.
