In the state of California when married if you inherited some money that the spouse has no right to it unless he gives her the right to the money written on paper with a lawyer. But if he don't she has no right to it at all. Since he is married to her then maybe she might have some rights. The courts can look at both ways. 8 yrs is a long time to wait for a person, however she stood married to him, but on the other hand she got along with out him and continued her life OK. The courts are going to look at both ways and the judge is going to make a decision. This person should of divorce her before he started a business. He could put it in other name, like his brother or mother. She just might be in title. Go to handleonthelaw.com

Same answer. If the money was inherited, then she is not entitled to it. If it was earned during the term of the marriage, then yes, she is entitled to 50%.
