The brand is sleep mate and it is a sound conditioner. It helps block out noises when you sleep. It makes the blowing air sound.

We use a fan too, but we are trying to get away from having to use a big fan.

I do not own that brand, but I have bought two similar items and I got them both at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I have twins that have to have noise when they sleep I got them a noise machine "white noise" at brookstone. It also has about 5 other noises in the same machine.

Our Orbeck air purifier makes a nice white noise, and it cleans the air. Look into air purifiers! (Orbeck is costly, and I can hardly recommend it because it is a long process to properly clean the "dust collector," which needs to be done every two weeks.)

Google search on 'White Noise Machine' and you'll find tons. I think even Amazon.com will have 'White Noise' machines.
