There are very few conservatives on welfare.
(Is it any coincidence that most criminals get public support and vote democrat?)

As a conservative I realize that there are times when someone has a more than unfortunate situation befall them and might need a bit of assistance.
But the one time in my life that I was unemployed , had the flu and was having a hard time, and thought about seeing if I could at least get some kinda aid so I could go to the doctor, well....
I went down to the office... saw the lines of people ... and I turned around and left. I have never taken any kind of welfare.
Go into a SSI office, or try to get welfare... look at the people that are there. If i went to any office that administrates social programs and random times I would see alot of the same people, time after time.

I'm a conservative not in need of welfare and not opposed to it. The problem is because social programs -- all done in the name of compassion -- foster a society of dependence. There is nothing compassionate about encouraging people to live off of others.

I am not against welfare - however I am against abuse of the system. When someone is unable to work - due to illness or physical reasons that is one thing, but when they are capable of working & refuse to that's where the problem comes in.

Conservatives are not against welfare. They're against welfare WITHOUT accountability.

They will claim that conservatives don't collect welfare. I think they'd be surprised to walk through some cities and hear the welfare mommies talking about how great Bush is.
If they ever had stats to back up their claims, it'd be a miracle.
The truth is, they don't want to accept that welfare recipients do not represent the majority of either party. Instead, to them, every liberal is a welfare-collecting, dope-smoking deadbeat who runs around dragging helpless women into abortion clinics, strapping them down and murdering their "babies."

Could you give an example of when a "con" needs welfare? Too vague.

We aren't against welfare, just UNLIMITED welfare. Almost everyone has needed a hand UP on occasion... we just think that the hand OUT should stop.

Your question is fallacious. Some Conservatives oppose welfare in all its forms.
Others oppose the current form, which encourages out of wedlock birth.

I don't know any conservatives on welfare. Maybe there is this thing called "personal responsibility" that makes them take care of themselves rather than suckle at the government's tit.

I have never asked for welfare and never will. So I am and always will be against letting people be completely irresponsible for themselves.
Cheers and have a nice day!
