as long as the DVD is not a pirated copy, sure you can show it at your sports bar. However, you cannot use the showing of the DVD as an inducement to bring in customers. That is, you cannot advertise that you show the DVD during certain hours, etc.

Read the fine print on the case.

That's a rebroadcasting legal matter. UFC might have a fine print on that just like the NBA has it.
It might be illegal indeed. If it's for personal use at home it's fine, but because you rebroadcast it in a business environment and to more than a certain number of people it might cause issues.

As first owner of the purchased DVD, you can do anything you want except make copies, charge admission to view it, or use it as inducement to draw in customers.

I would think there would be royalty issues, and you would need a licence.

You would need to write to the company that has the rights, and get their permission.
