they beat duke twice, and it had nothing to do with duke playing poorly. they just beat them on their home court because maryland played great.
this team is on a tear and they are getting hot at the right time. it will be interesting to see how they do in the conference tourney. they have plenty of talent and a great coach, so i could say the sky is the limit in the ncaa tourney.
the various sports websites have them seeded as a 4,5, or 6. if they get a 4 seed, it would not surprise me if they make it to the sweet sixteen and knock off a 1 seed. it also wouldn't surprise me if they lost in the first or second round. this team is dangerous when they play together, but at times they just fall apart (check the losing streak before their current win streak)
either way, i see them as a very dangerous team in the tourney. just look at how they are running through the acc right now!

Maryland has the mental toughness right now, and it doesn't matter how inconsistent they were at the beginning of the season, all that matters is how you play down the stretch. Winning 6 in a row, 2 against Duke and one against UNC, isn't a bad way to finish out a season. Here's what Coach K thinks after last night's game:
"Maryland is playing lights-out basketball," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "They played as well against us tonight as anybody has played against us all year. I think they could go against anybody."
That from a guy who has coached against Maryland and Gary Williams for 16 years, so I think he knows what he is talking about. Maryland now has the longest win streak in the ACC and finish up at home with NC State (14-13). They beat them by 15 in Raleigh, so it shouldn't be much of a problem, and no, I don't think it is a trap game either. Maryland can go far in the ACC tourney, possibly win it all if they keep playing the way they are, though I don't know if a matchup with UNC on a neutral court would have the same outcome as before. They're projected as a 4 seed as of now, dependent on what happens in the tournament. The fact is their confidence is sky high, the seniors have put the team on their back, and they are gonna get a good draw for the NCAA Tournament and will likely be able to make it to the Sweet 16 no problem. With that said, I think that they are an Elite 8 team, but you can never tell with momentum, they could keep it through the entire tournament, and remember that the seniors on this team have had to deal with not making the tournament the past 2 years after Maryland had made it the previous 11 in a row. I don't think that just making the tournament is enough for them, they want to go out on top. So happy I'm not gonna be sweating out another Selection Sunday :).

I don't think they will make it passed the 2nd round. They are too inconsistent. The only reason they beat Duke is because Duke was not in sync that game and was shooting poorly off bad decisions. The Terps are good, no doubt. I just don't think they will last.

I think they are a team to surprise. I think they can make it as far as the Elite 8. ACC teams always seem to do well in the tourney.

I think probably the second round. Last night's win notwithstanding, they have not been consistent most of the year. They have the talent to maybe get to a final four, but I don't think they're mentally tough enough.
