When I did it years ago. I picked the day, knowing where he'd be, and what time he'd be there. You want to be sure that he gets served! And that's what you specify to your attny. Always keep in mind, YOU are paying YOUR attny to meet YOUR needs!

Depending upon how fast the courts are where you live, it shouldn't take that long. My ex was served in about 4 weeks, but that was around the holidays and he lived out of state, so it took longer.

It's probably a good idea to have counsel now before you get served.

It has to be filed with the court first...It could take a couple of days to a few weeks.
