Well first make sure you have the right version of the sims 2. You can only have children in the PC version of the game.
Secondly, get a male and a female sim to fall in love. Make them relax in a bed together, click one and select try for baby. The sims will woohoo and if you hear a lullaby, your sim is pregnant, if not repeat until you hear the lullaby.
Third, wait three sims days and the female sim will have her baby, if anyone is around her they will be freaking out.

Either get your Sim on the phone and adopt one, or make a male and female sim do Woohoo in bed or the hot tub and make sure you select "Try for baby". This will only work (without hacks or mods) if their relationship is really high.

Get urself a mate..a gal/guy dependin wot sex ur playing.Movin in wud be the next step..then when u keep ur sims happy under 1 roof,eventually a stork wud turn up at ur doorstep n give u a baby..regardless u want it or not..** i didnt want one**lol coz i was happy wid my "partner" n job n frenz n etc..a baby was hard to cope coz 1of ur sim has to stay home to care for it ( u lose 1 sim's income ) ,the lil bugger cries all the time..ur sim wud prolly frown & starts to get depressed most of the time if u dont balance her/him up again..Good Luck!

Your sims have to be in love and you have to be on the females lot, then you have both of them relax on the bed. Then you can choose "try for a baby". You'll know it worked when you hear the lullaby music play.

You have to get your sims to the love stage or fill up their points in friendship to the highest. After that you will need to put them both in bed at the same time and have them have sex. After a few times of this you will get a message saying you have had a child.
