Well, there are a few methods to determine the sex of your bearded dragon. The simplest method is to invade their privacy and just look. On the underside of their tail, just above the vent, there is typically either a single bulge (or none) or two separated bulges. If you see two clearly separate bulges, as in the upper image to the right, you have a male. If you see only one, you probably have a female. There is uncertainty with a single bulge, particularly if there isn't much of one. When beardies are young, they all look like females, but develop clearer signs of gender as they get older. You should be able to tell by time they're 7-8" STL.
The best way to hold your dragon when making this check is to place your dragon in one hand, perpendicular to your fingers, and facing away from you. Place your thumb over the back to hold them in place. With your other hand lift the tail up to approximately 90 degrees. Be gentle!!! You don't want to hurt your beardie.

Males and females will generally have many differences but keep in mind that sexing them is never 100% effective. There are also documented cases of hermaphroditism (both sexes in one)within beardies so just FYI. Males generally have a wider head that is more rounded at the nose, the females have a longer head with a pointier nose. Males will have larger femoral pores then females )little dots on the underside of the thighs) and will have a blacker beard and display it more often then females. If you hold them in your non-dominant hand facing away from you and GENTLY lift the tail to 90 degrees and look on the tail side of the vent(slit where they poop), you may have to GENTLY twist the tail slightly back and forth, the male should have 2 side by side bumps and the female should have one or none.
Please keep in mind that these characteristics are generallities and not 100 %. I would think though, if you look at the bumps under the tail then you will have more false females then males since a nondeveloped male, a not well endowed male and some regular males will look like females with either one or no bump. If you see a dent in the middle of the 2 bumps, it's pretty certainly a male.
Good luck to you

unless your beardie is 3 months old your probably going to have to wait some vets can tell by squeezing the area around the vent forcing the hemipenal out of the dragon but it can also harm the dragon DO NOT try this yourself you could actually kill it. when they turn 3 months old look for the bulges males have 2, females 1 go to the website below it has pics. I have a female named david because I let a professional sex it when it was young so no method is 100 percent there are actually hermafroditic (male and female together) dragons though rare. pic out male and female names you might change 2 or 3 times. have fun doing it and take lots of pictures and when you find out what sex it is you can then label the pics. best of luck

The best way is to visit the vet and have them tell you, to avoid any confusion. The male beardeds usually tend to have a much wider head than the females, and you can also tell by looking at the reptiles vent. If there are two buldges on the sides of his vent than it's most likely a male, if there are no buldges it most likely is a female. But, like I said, the easiest way to find out is to just ask your veterinarian. Good luck!
