If you plan on entertaining some, then a larger kitchen works best. Seems everyone ends up in the kitchen/diner engaging in conversation, sharing receipts, things you end up not talking about over a large dining room table. If you don't cook, who needs a kitchen or dining room, go for large great room.

I would want a large kitchen with an eat-in area and a separate dining room. That way if it is just a couple of few people you don't have to mess up the dining room, but you always have more room for company or family. I also find that a larger kitchen avoids clutter by having more room, so that there is a place for everything.

Most resale values for house now days focus on a big kitchen. The bigger the better. Most people are dining in the kitchen either at a bar or at a small kitchen table. Separate dining rooms are fading and being made into bigger family rooms or living rooms!

Personally I love a large kitchen diner. People always hang out in the kitchen, and I love being able to talk to my children, friends and hubby while they are sitting at a table while I am cooking. We do use our formal dining room ...like once on Xmas Day lol

I would prefer a large kitchen because it seems that everyone always gathers in the kitchen. It's like the kitchen is the heart of the home.

Kitchens are good for the soul. It's where you nourish your family, bake with your children making lifelong memories, and where you just sit and have a cup of coffee with a friend or neighbor cleansing your soul.

Certainly bigger than the 'galley' kitchen in my apt! a large kitchen that's laid out smartly would be my choice! i need counter space, but the dishwasher, sink, stove should be near eachother! If it were perfect, i'd like a kitchen with a small 'family' table for normal everyday dinners, and then a separate dining room for company.
