Absolutely not. In fact -- MBAs from unranked schools aren't even taken very seriously.
An MBA from a top 15 school will (on average) allow people to double their salaries. It will also allow then to change fields easily.
An MBA from a ranked school will help them increase their salaries or change fields. However, the benefits tail off as the rankings go down.
An MBA from an unranked school may help someone get ahead at his current company. However, it is unlikely to allow him to get a new job at a higher salary or in a new field.
An MBA from an online university may actually hurt someone's chances of getting a job. Most online universities are For Profit corporations that are not selective or rigorous. They tell you that they are accredited -- but they usually lack accredidation from the prestigious national boards. A recent NY Times article about the University of Phoenix pointed out that many firms -- like Intel -- are refusing to pay for their employees to take classes there because they are not rigourous enough. U of P recently paid a record $9.8MM fine for sleazy recruiting practices. They are currently under investigation for padding their placement numbers. While online schools are less expensive than prestigious private universities -- they are more expensive than good public universities.
If you want an MBA -- go to the best possible school that you can get into.

Try to find a traditional bricks and mortar school that also offers online programs. I am planning to get mine from Auburn University. It requires the same coursework as students on campus and there will be no distinction that I studied online.

Ask any HR person in any company.....if they see an application for employment from a person with an '0n-line' degree or diploma...it automatically goes to the bottom of the pile....if it is considered at all. "Universities" such as the 'university of phoenix' have no standing in the academic community whatsoever.

MBA is based on case studies discussions/analysis and to do this on-line is a sham!
