There are plenty of cleaners you can buy at the fish/pet store. But if you want to save some cash, a good cleaner is a mix of 3/4 water and 1/4 vinegar. It's a strong disinfectant and is non toxic to your fish! Good luck!

Use a light bleach solution. abot 1/4 cup per 10 gallons will cetainly do it. Allow to stand with the filter running for an hour or so. Then wash every thing very well and allow it to dry for a few days. Refill the tank and treat with extra dechlorinator and all will be well.

The best solution would be what magic said, bleach everything, but like he said a light solution, use some dechlorinating crystals or liquid, and check your ph, and adjust as necessary for your particular fish...

I had the same problem, what I did was went to the pet store and asked for feeder fish, they are only like $1.00 per dozen. They make the tank unbelievably clean. They almost look like goldfish.

Hot water and vinegar. Vinegar cleans really well without harsh chemicals that will kill your fish.
