You don t have too but they recommend it.I have two corvettes and I usually run just regular but if it starts pinging I just switch to premium. Really if you want performance than yes use premium I can t take off or drive fast enough to see the benefits in Kansas City Mo so i just cruise and take it easy.

93 octane...read and follow the manual's advice.

Gas is premium because you have a premium car.

Get used to premium prices for the premium car. The oil change charge will spin your ears... synthetic Mobil1...premium car.

Warranty should be over so you'll need a Corvette mechanic. Don't waste your time with anyone else. This car requires trained technicians...not cheap...premium car.

You'll soon need tires...$800.00+...z-rated for performance...premium car.

Enjoy your "premium car." Use it for premium events, keep it for a long time, and smile at everybody as they wave at you. You're driving America's dreamcar.

Premium would be better , its all about the Octane . Cheaper gas goes right threw .
I started using a better grade with better Octane ,good results , although it was not for a Corvette ,but i'm sure it would still apply.

My co-worker has a 1996 Corvette, and according to him the high-performance engines in all the new Corvettes -- 1983 and newer -- are supposed to take premium fuel ONLY (and they apparently only take synthetic motor oil only as well).

No you don't have to. There is no difference between premium and regular gas. All you are doing is wasting your money.

yes dueto the fact that the engin is designed to perform at its maximum potential with high-octne fuel. Other wise it will develop mechanical problems and you'll end up with a very expensive piece of junk

Yes, if you use regular unleaded it won't really cause any damage, but it won't run right. The knock sensors will sense detonation and retard the timing, basically knocking it down about 75 horsepower in the process.

You can also look on the door post it also tells what the recomended octane is. The owners manual will give you a range.
