Maybe just a simple spreadsheet?
You can put columns with the name of the book, author, subject matter (fiction, bio, how-to, poetry, sports, work related, maybe a category for your collectible works), where it is on your shelves (liv room window wall, liv room fireplace wall, bedroom, guest room, kitchen, etc.)
