Add 5, plus however many more, and you have how many years you have been married to that person.

My question would be why did you get divorced in the first place? You must have still loved eachother back then while you were going through the divorce.

Husband and I are going through a REALLY hard time right now but I am determined to see it out as long as I can. And if I can't, then I will end it but if I end it I will be ending it permanently. I'll just try to keep the friendship going for our daughter's sake

Yes you add the first five to whatever time you are remarried. The two years you are divorced you are NOT married so why would you factor them into the equation?

The legally correct answer is that you don't add up all the years from the first and second marriage cummulatively. You would start from the date you married your spouse the second time and are remaining married to her now.

You add the total.

5 years plus the amount of the current marriage.

Or you can just count the years you've KNOWN each other.

that's what i would do. i would consider it a 2 year break. so if it were 5 years married, then 2 year break, then 3 years married again, i would say you've been married 8 years.

No because you got divorced. Wich of course means the first marriage was dissolved. In other words you have to start all over again.
