First, you need to "HIRE" an attorney to represent you in the divorce, if you haven't already, not just see one. Yes, any competant divorce attorney should know that the method for obtaining information on assets and so forth from the other party, is a legal process called 'DISCOVERY", and the most common is to send out and serve upon your husband papers by mail which are called 'INTERROGATORIES" which are questions he must provide you with in writing which answers must be signed by your husband before a notary public, and also 'DEMAND FOR PRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTS", which goes along with the Interrogatories, and asks your spouse to provide you with copies of certain documentation, such as copies of the last three years of bank statements from all financial accounts, including stocks, bonds, 401(k)s, savings and so forth. TELL YOUR ATTORNEY TO GET ON IT OR FIRE HIM, AND GET SOMEONE WHO CAN DO THE JOB FOR YOU!

Your income tax form should have the information you are looking for, that is, if he filed a legitimate form. He would have to claim any interest he accrued on his bank accounts, and would be able to take a deduction for the monies he invested into his 401k or retirement. As far as life insurance, that's a tough one-- do you know who your agent was? did he have insurance through work? did he make you get insurance on yourself and with whom? and does he have a safe deposit box which would most likely be in the bank you did all your banking with---there lies your important papers. And if you happen to still be around him, if there is any way you have access to his old cell phone bills---even call the company and ask them to duplicate them or you may be able to access them online, you can check the numbers he called-- a long tedious task, but you will find who his stockbroker is, and insurance broker and unfortunately, maybe anyone new in his life--it's a dirty way to find the dirt on him but he's the one who started the hide and seek game..........good luck....

wow im sorry to hear your husband was so horrible ,,, i'm not sure if you can find out about existing policies and i am actually an active agent providing all of these products to my clients. but i do know you can add them to your divorce decree and demand that you get a percentage ( whatever you and your lawyer decided upon) esp if you have children you may not know exactly what he has but if your lawyer is really good , you'll get a pretty nice chunk of it when you leave . ..... this is a really good question im going to see if theer is a way i could help a future client with this problem im sure it will come up one day

if he has a 401k / pension through a corporation, you can contact the corporation to get that information; If you have been married for over 10 years you are entitled to half of it, by law. Your lawyer shouldn't be needing your input, he should be able to find all this information out.....

Because you are married he has to give out that inforation for court/divorce purposes. Get a better lawyer to be your bull dog through this...sounds like you are going to need it.

There are interrogatories in divorce. Your attorney can request all financial records, tax returns, etc.
If you still think he is hiding assets, you can hire a forensic accountant that knows how to find hidden assets.
