just a few ideas:
-engine swap another Honda engine into it (everything you need for a H22a swap should be around $2000-$2500, B series are nice also and cost a little less, K series is newer and more costly, but have the most potential also)
-new camshafts
-new headers
-coilover suspension
-fuel injectors
-catback exhaust
-get rid of the crappy stock intake and put a cold air intake in its place, and i would just make sure it either has an AEM or K&N filter for it
-braided steel brake line
-spark plugs and wires
-AEM fuel rail
-new brake pads
-drilled and slotted rotors
-strut tower bar set
-adjustable fuel pump
you could also upgrade engine internals. maybe put some iron sleeves, upgrades pistons, valves and springs, etc. and then put a turbo with an intercooler on it, or if you want to go straight motor then replace the internals and overbore it. Also if you're turboing it, use lower compression pistons, but higher compression pistons if you're going NA.

Not much you can do. There are some artificial means like aftermarket air filter, high lift camshaft, or even an add-on turbo chargers. The thing is that they either produce illusive results (air filter) or may potentially damage the engine - all others. When you deal with a precisely engineered vehicle like a Honda, you don't want to mess with it because results may be unpredictable. With fords, and suchlike it's different because they are not very well designed - and even worse made, and no changes will make them worse than they already are.

you could try installing a header and a performance exhaust this will give you 15 to 25 more hp porting and polishing the head, any machine shop can do this for a couple hundred bucks, try a performance chip, this will give you a power gain how much , it just depends on how big of a gain in power you want and how much you want to spend, having the motor rebuilt , like having it bored slightly and having racing rods and pistons installed the ported and polished head and modified motor will give you and exceptional power gain try installing bigger injectors aftermarket fuel rail, a turbo, it just all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend hope this helps
