I am 36 weeks pregnant as of yesturday. I went into labor and delivery because i was having difficulty walking....im having a ton of pressure and intense pain in my pelvic area. They told me my cervix is thinning, i am dialated to 1cm currently and the baby is dropped into position. I'm wondering how long i could go before having the baby. The DR. guessed about two weeks max, but i am wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen....how long after the baby dropping into position and beginning to dialate could the baby be born? I am only concerned because my mother is coming out here from out of state and can't get here any sooner, and she will be caring for my other children while im having the baby so hubby can be with me. Anyone have any idea the longest i could go?

im 37 weeks and at my 35 week was 2 cent dialated and 50% efaced, She is dropped and low in the pelvic girdle and walking is more like lumbering around like a bear. Doc says just go with it, I could be that way for a month or i could go tomorrow. Get things ready have you bags packed, they consider a baby full term after 37 weeks and if you go into labor they wont stop it for your mom. The baby wont wait for mom niether. The good news is if you do go into labor you dont have that far to dialate or eface fully and labor can go pretty quick for you. I am due March 28th!!!! I think though that a good strong sneezing fit when i stand up outta bed, i am going to see my daughter lying on the floor beween my legs looking up at me. LOL

My baby was in position, my cervix was thinning and I was dialated to 2 for a month. I actually stayed dialated to two even after I went into labor. The dr had to give me meds after my water broke to make me dialate more. The pain is because you are dialating. It is hard to tell, especially since this isnt your first child, (usually the others come quicker) you could go anytime but most people I know were in the same boat as me, they stayed dialated to 1 or 2 for at least 2 weeks to a month before they acctually went into labor. Good Luck with your baby, I hope every thing works out ok for you.

I went for 6 weeks, with my son dropped, 3 cm dialated and over 50% effaced. Took no special precautions other than resting when I had contractins. Everyone said i'd go early and then i had to be induced on his due date.

With my daughter i went three weeks at 4cm dilated 50%effaced and her dropped.

You really could go on to the end. I would plan on it actually. The only thing that makes the baby come early is whatever hormone triggers contractions. The cervix ripening is only part of it, so don't let anyone get you overly concerned with going too early. Also check out the phases of the moon. More women go early based on the new and full moon than on dilation alone! Full moons equal full maternity wards!

I'm sure you will I was dilated to a 2 when I was 36 weeks along and didnt have my baby until I was 38 1/2 weeks and only ended up having her 10 days early. So you should be fine but you can never predict anything everyone is different you could and then maybe you wont. but they can always induce labor at 39 weeks at least thats what I was told on my last pregnancy. So I guess the latest you can go is 39 weeks.

I am 41 weeks pregnant my baby dropped into position 3 weeks ago and I have not changed from 1-2 cen. since then. No labor yet. But it is very hard to walk and get around and the pressure is intense sometimes especially when i use the bathroom. Good luck and hang in there I'm trying to.

Most likely you're gonna have it shortly. but it is all about when the baby is ready. With my first I was dialated 2cm the WHOLE last month of my pregnancy. and I felt the pressure too. Don't worry everything will go fine.

We're all different. (Doctor can only estimate)
I took my time when I went into actual labor. (depending where you live)
First child....21 hrs labor
Second child....7 1/2 hrs labor
Third child....7 hrs labor

EDIT:
I carried all my children very low to begin with. (I'm 5' 10")
People kept asking if I dropped already....lol
I could'nt sneeze/cough without tinkling... (so aggravating)
