Vista does not come with and Antivirus. It does come with Windows Defender. This is an Antispyware program and doen't provide virus protection.

Many AV programs are able to support Vista. AVG, AVAST, Active Virus Shield and many pay programs will provide protection.

AVAST and AVG can be downloaded here:

http://www.filehippo.com/

Active Virus Shield which uses the Kaspersky AV(this is the best AV programs available) is here:

http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp?

Independent tests proved Kaspersky is the best. See the results here:

vista comes with a very good security package including windows defender and a much improved firewall
as for anti-virus initially you would be wise to use a trial download from microsoft, when the security warning appears on your desktop,go to the security center and then you will notice that "malware protection is not installed",you should then see a link you can press that will take you to some anti-virus trial downloads
out of them all the one care live trial is about the best, this has a antispyware feature and a tune up function
also spybot is compatible with vista so you will be ok to install that,(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/news/2006-06-23.html),and here is the spybot link aswell(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html)
so with one care live and spybot plus all the vista built-in security you will have
1)anti-virus(one-care-live)
2)anti-spyware(defender,spybot,one-care-live)
3)firewall(windows vista built in,but will be turned off by one care live, but you have the option to use the windows firewall if wanted)
this is more than enough security for windows vista,as vista is much more secure than any previous version of windows, you even need to get permission to install a game
good luck with vista!

Vista should have its own security. However, do you really want to install Vista? Its a monster.
