If detroit wants to be successful again. they should stop building cars in mexico and overseas. Also the government should step up and charge more for a car built in mexico or overseas. or built here in the US by a foreign owned company. Do you think Japan would let FORD or GM build cars in their country? Why dont we limit how many foreign goods come into the US? I am sure theres 100's of 1000's of unemployed legal people here in the US who'd love to have a job again.

I work at Chrysler and sick of people saying American cars are junk. All cars are built the same way,on a assembly line.We take as much pride at Toledo Jeep Wrangler assembly in our vehicles as Toyota or Honda workers. Most problems we have are quality issues with parts built in other countries. Also with the unfair advantage that Japan auto makers get from the value of the yen to dollar they make $4500avg just for importing it.It will turn around just like it did in 1980's when everyone was on the foriegn car kick and hated American cars.Oh yes,Chrysler is owned by Daimler but the money Chrysler makes stays in US,not so with foriegn brands. So keep buying the foriegn cars and you too may soon lose your job,not just the auto sector.

The reason Ford and Gm went down and are not as successful as they were is because of the product they produced , if the product was manufactured better and had better quality than Foreign automakers they would not be in this situation in the first place , Hey I would buy an American car if it was the best product out there but unfortunately it is not .

Yes I agree with how you feel. Everyone got a buy out no matter who you were. If you didnt take it you take the chance of bring walked out getting nothing. Ford also said you can lose your retirement fund to. Maybe even health insurance. All that was if you were to say. The buy out would only give you about 6 months of pay not to mention that it wouldnt cover much.

there'll probable consistently be a luxury/activities phase of the vehicle marketplace (one it extremely is now disproportionately carbon-in intensity), so rate reductions there may well be solid. the object does be conscious that "Fisker reported maximum of its DOE loan would be used to finance U.S. production of a $40,000 relatives sedan that has yet to be designed". after all, i might choose production information for finished hybrids, no longer the 0.5-assed hybrids like those released by GM that have been given extremely one greater few MPG. Honda and notably Toyota have appeared greater severe with reference to the technologies, and characteristic tended to get greater desirable mixed gas financial gadget rankings (city/street, no longer in basic terms the utmost of the two). in line with danger loans or different information could be based on the estimated proportion of gas less expensive expenditures over a extensive-unfold type, no longer in basic terms no rely if something is a "hybrid".

NO.

Anyway, what is a "foreign car". Is a Honda Civic assembled in the US a foreign car. Is a Chrysler (owned by Damiler Benz -- a german company) assembled in Canada a foreign car. Is a Volvo (owned by Ford) assembled in Sweden a foreign car.

Most foreigners are too smart to buy low mpg vehicles produced by the US big 3.
Many Americans are smart and buy the better product . . .
Why punish the companies that make the better product ?
If the American 3 want to succeed, they can learn to make the good mpg product that is in demand worldwide.
