Okay, this gonna sound crazy I bet. I have hazel eyes. Or what I call hazel as they change from blue, green, and brown. Often in different shades but usually darker colors. I don't know how this happens, but I'm told it has to do with my mood. Now for the impossible part.

While looking in the mirror one day, I looked up from washing my face to see my eyes were in the process of turning a medium light purple. It didn't last long, but I thought purple eyes didn't exist! I've never seen them go purple since, but I suppect they have. How is this possible? Wouldn't that mean I have eyes that can go from Brown, to green, to blue, and even purple?

So far, I'm getting a wide array of answers, which is good. Just to clear something up though.

1.) Yes, I know I saw them cuz I was standing right there and it suprised me, but I found the color to be fasinating.

2.) I knew nothing of Taylor and think it is awesome others have it, but she has it all the time. Thanks to my eye colors changing so often, I wouldn't know if it shows up much.

3.) Taylor may have purple eyes, but how are they possible?

Elizabeth Taylor has purple eyes.

I have hazel eyes, too, and their color varies. I think it's a function of the light more than mood.

Yes "violet" eyes do exist. That is the color eyes Elizabeth Taylor has, that is how she actually got her start because of the color of her eyes...I too have hazel eyes although mine usually go from a medium brown to to dark green to a very dark olive green, mine change with the seasons.

The color of your eyes is based on the pigment in your eyes (its like beta-caritein or something) for instance because black people have darker skin, there eyes have more pigment. Albinos have little to NO pigment so their eyes are red.
I've never seen anyone with purple eyes, but i guess it could happen! It's just confussing because your eyes tend to be darker in pigment (though they change colors, mine do that too, according to what i wear. very handy) and purple is pretty close to red, so it almost seems like your eyes would have to be lighter for that to happen. You sure you didn't imagine it, or it was a trick of the light?

Elizabeth Taylor is famous for her violet/purple eyes.

A friend of mine has eyes that subtly change to somewhat reflect what she's wearing, or the predominant color of a room. From light to dark blue, to an almost gray, to a greenish color. I don't know why that is, but it does occur from time to time.

Yes your eyes can turn purple. It is generally thought of as caused by reflections of red and blue. I have attached the link to wikipedia that explains eye color.
