A better question is why WOULDN'T you?

Beside OBVIOUSLY NOT being ready for a child, pregnancy is very taxing on a woman's body. 13 yr olds bodies are not really ready to carry a baby even though they can get pregnant. It would be a high risk pregnancy and change that girl's body forever! So it's not as easy, "just give it up for adoption".

I've got a friend who had her 1st baby at 13 - she's a great mum and couldn't be happier! I'm not saying it's ideal, but different things are right for different people, at 13 some people might feel totally unable to cope with a pregnancy or a child but others don't - either is ok. Abortion is right for some people and not others - you can't say someone should have an abortion because they are 13, that's SO wrong - each individual is different and needs to make their own desision.

Why would you be pregnant at 13 in the 1st place?? 13 is far too young to be having a baby. If girls of this age are going to have sex i think there is little any1 can do to stop it but for gods sake use protection and these situations can be avoided. Going through an abortion at such a young age will be terrible.

There are a lot of reasons why a girl or woman of any age might turn to abortion. As far as a 13 yr old, the parents might be forcing her, the guy might have left her, she may not have a job or any way to support it, maybe she was raped and doesn't want to be ridiculed by her peers, the list goes on and on. Some people are just not meant to have kids. I knew a girl who got an abortion bc she didn't want to be fat for swim suit season...

I don't know why you asked this question but if it is because you are 13 and pregnant and are wondering what to do then you need to find help. There are call centres that you can phone in to with out having to give your name, even just to talk to some one who can give you information might help, look in the phone book under family planning. This is a choice you need help to make, and there are people who have been through this before. If you were my daughter i would probably want you to have an abortion, you are so young, but at the end of the day it is you who need to decide.

I cannot believe how many people agree with abortions. Did you know a baby's heart beats at 18 days past ovulation. That means it is a living baby. If I got pregnant at 13, I would keep my baby. Although, I didn't have sex until I was 18. If you are having sex at 13, you should be ready and deal with the consequences. If you don't want a child, don't have sex. If you really are not ready for a child, there are many loving homes willing to take in a beautiful child.

Why are kids having sex at such a young age now days. Why aren't parents teaching their children safe sex practices, or teaching them to wait until they are old enough to deal with a pregnancy.

A baby is still a person, no matter how small. By 5 1/2 weeks (around the time most people can first discover they are pregnant), the baby's heart is already beating.
Carrying your child to term doesn't mean you are ready to be that child's parent. There is such a shortage of adoptable babies nowadays that many couples stay on the list for years before anybody chooses them. If God did indeed create all men equal (a principle on which our country is founded), then even the tiniest of babies has the same right to life as you or I.

It's an issue of responsibility. If at 13, she feels that she can raise a child and stay in school and do both at the same time, then she should keep it. I doubt that a 13-year old will have enough patience, dedication and strength to endure labor, raise a child and still get a decent education. And where are her parents? They should be enforcing responsibility at each step of their growth. At 13, her responsibiliites should be school and family (not raising a family).
