I have an XP and know how to use that thing back and forth all over the place, now I got a windows Vista and it sucks, how in the heck am I supposed to use it? I downloaded an .exe that I made myself and it says "This is made by an unknown publisher, are you sure you want to use it?" I say yes and it doesn't do a thing, and I've tried to install various programs and it just doesn't do anything, AND I ALSO tried to install that "Upgrade your Windows Vista Experience" disc that came with it, it took about an hour before it said, the disc was not installed successfully, so is XP just better all the way? or what? is Vista for old people who sit around and do finances all the time? 'cause it's sure not good for anything I've tried...

I'll give you a very caring sincere advice my friend. Stick to XP! It is the most stable Windows out there, period!

If you want to enjoy the interface of Vista, install the Vista Transformation Pack. It is designed to emulate the Vista looks and other functions.

I installed it myself and looks really nice. I love it. You get the XP functionality and simplicity combined with the Vista appearance.

Before installing, just back up your system, in case you change your mind later, and you're ready to go!

Good Luck.

A lot of tech news sources are reccomending people wait for at least the first Service pack of Vista before upgrading. It's just too buggy at the moment for most people.

you could try disabling the security protections in the control panel to run some applications though.

The Vista upgrade disc is only if you're wanting to upgrade to another version of Vista. DON'T USE IT OTHERWISE!
