I'm not sure how he does it, but he tapes his room, and he told me about it ... what do you think of this?

Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I've heard of teachers doing it on overnight trips. They tape the outside of the students' doors and if the tape is broken in the morning, they know who left the room. (Or at least, which room)

I'm curious as to how your friend does this. The teachers tape the outside, once everyone is in the room. If he tapes it on the outside, the roommates (or anyone) can just remove the tape to go in and replace it when they're done. If he somehow tapes the inside, it will break when he goes in the room; how will he know if it was broken before? The reason teachers use tape is because there is little to no resistance, and therefore poses no fire hazard risks. So, I don't see how it can work in your friend's case.

Yes, I've heard of people doing that, and it usually means that they either don't trust the people they live with, or they don't trust the friends of that person.

When I first moved out and had a roommate, we decided that even though we were best friends, we would, both, keep the doors to our bedrooms locked. That way, there'd be no question at all about the matter. It sounds silly, but it really was the best thing to do.

I have to set "traps" in my house to protect me from my daughter from stealing from me. do such things as position things in my purse a certain way, cover my medication box with magazines and bathroom things in acertain way. I'm not being aranoid but this has slowed her from some of the theft. Last time I set the trap with my medications I was able to confront her immediately and as a result she doesn't try to get into my things as easily. Maybe thats what your friend is doing it for.

He is not to be trusted, that's why he is so paranoid. It sounds like too much work, he should just move out and live on his own. Live with people he can trust.
