Elton John is not only a musical genius and a living legend, he has raised millions of dollars for his Aids Foundation, and also for breast cancer research. I admire him very much not only for these things, but for all that he has overcome in his life. I can't imagine a world without him and his music!

Hey! I asked this one already! No fair!
No, but I like him and his music. I hear a lot of people say that his new stuff isn't as good as his old stuff, but I don't really fully agree with that statement. In the mid-eighties to early nineties he made a very rough transition from the type of music he played then to the type he plays now. Honestly I think that his best works ever were in The Big Picture, Elton John, The One, and Songs From the West Coast. From his early work and styles I'd have to say Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John, and Captain Fantastic were his greatest bits. I still like his music, and he has made a pretty smooth transition for what it is worth though he does seem to do a lot more somber, bluesy almost gospel type music these days, I really think that knowing the characters he has been throughout his career helps you understand that this is a good thing for him still.

Though he peaked in the 70's and early 80's, I still think that The One, Made in England, The Big Picture, were works of pure genius, where he found the best expression of his life time, the maturity and the level of artistic mastery was undeniable there, maybe to a lesser extent in Made in England, but still there.
