Squid have ten arms, two of which (the tentacles) are longer than the others. An octopus has only eight arms. Squid also have a cartilage-like structure called a pen that gives its body some consistency of shape. Their mantle typically has two fins on the side. Octopus have no pens, and no fins on their mantles.
There are many species of both squid and octopus, but the largest cephalopod species known to science so far are squid. The heaviest is the colossal squid, followed by the more famous giant squid. However, there are some people who believe that a "colossal octopus" exists. The evidence for such a creature consists of difficult-to-identify blobs that wash onto seashores from time to time. (In 2003, a 13-ton blob washed ashore in Chile, and many thought it was the carcass of a colossal octopus. DNA tests later revealed that it was part of the carcass of a sperm whale.)

There is no one which is bigger than the other. There are numerous species of each without a clear division in weights between the two.
Squids and octupuses are different species entirely. Octopuses have 8 tentacles and squids have 10 is an easy way to tell the difference between the two.

An Octopus lives IN the ocean and shoots out ink to protect itself against attackers. A squid lives on top of the ocean on a boat he shot some ink out of a fountain pen onto a piece of paper so he could BE a squid. When attacked he uses a mop. A squid is generally bigger in weight depending how well they do at keeping him away from the galley.
