My husband just called me from work and he asked me to look for information for a 50 year old woman at work. He said that the supervisor walked up to her and grabbed her arm and spun her around and pushed her backwards into her machine he said that he witnessed the whole thing. He went and asked the woman if she was alright and she said yes but she was shaken up over it. I have looked online for information about her rights and what she can do about the situation because the boss and the supervisor are buddies and she knows the boss will do nothing about it. We live in the state of Ohio. Can anyone help me find information about what she can do about the situation? Any help will be greatly appreciated Thank You in advance for any help.

Technically, she was assaulted. She can call the cops. But, she probably won't. Is there a labor union where they work? Call the state agency dealing with labor issues. (In NY, it's the NY State Department of Labor... there's probably a similar agency in OH)

The supervisor has committed assault....call the police, have them come to the workplace and fill out a report. Press charges if necessary.

Insist on speaking to or being in phone contact with HER boss, relate the incident and actions taken.

Then contact your states Department of Labor and tell them of the incident and fill a complaint.

That's workplace abuse!!! This woman should not stand for it - press charges!! The best thing to do would be to consult a lawyer but I'm more than certain it's enough of a case that she would win. Tell her to start looking for another job - no one ever deserves to be treated that way, whether at work or at home, there's no justifying that kind of behaviour. It's so enraging that people in a position of authority abuse their titles. It's wrong and it has to stop. Sue the company, sue the individual and put them in their place! Is there perhaps an owner that she could speak to? I wish the best to her and good luck to you.

Report it as an assault to the Police That is physical and bodily harm…
(Have her expect to lose her job though. And your husband if he is a witness and says so to the officer.)

They usually don’t fire you because of that instance. They will find something else to let you go….

I'd talk to the supervisor and let him know. Also I would talk to the lady and see if she wants to call the police just to file a report. The officer may show enough authority that another incident my not be repeated.

well, she can go to a workforce bureau or something of that sort, or the corporate branch of the company, and report assault.

If she has a union rep, she can go to them. If she doesn't, then get a lawyer!
