There are standing booths you can try instead. You can control how far the lid of the tanning bed comes down. I am claustrophobic too & I don't have a problem in a tanning bed.

Tanning beds should be scary to everyone because scientific evidence proves that they are very harmful for your skin.
With so many sunless tanners out there today, I would start to look into those as a solution for you. Seriously. Then you solve the problem of your claustrophobia and you'll still have a feel-good tan.
I've tried many sunless tanners, and I liked L'oreal's the best. The Jergens made me break out, the Olay didn't give me enough tan (it just made my skin shimmer), and the Aveeno was a close second, but also just made me shimmer. L'oreal's sunless tanner made me look healthy and natural for the summer months, and I never have to worry about tanning making me pre-age or giving me skin cancer.

don't use the lay down bed use the stand-up one the stand-up one has a much shorter time and a much better tan instead of 20 mins laying down you spend 10 mins standing up sometimes only 5 mins. you can't really see anything anyways with the glass you have to wear, but just remember that you can't get locked in and it shuts off.

not purely the mattress, the closet too. ;-; If I dropped one in all my filled animals off of the mattress whilst i became attempting to sleep, and the room became darkish, i might enable it stay there because of the fact i presumed something might seize my arm from below the mattress as i attempted to %. it up. :3 i don't have faith that stuff anymore however. I nevertheless get spooked by potential of the closet if I watch an exceedingly frightening horror action picture however. >->

There are beds that don't close completely, you can get in stronger beds that you only have to stay into for 10 min.
Or you could just take a xanax :)

dont worry about getting closed in. Worry about getting skin cancer. If it will keep you out of them, then yes, they are suffocatingly small inside!! Spend your money on a good self tanner instead.
