Nope, completely different. The easiest way to tell them apart is that seals do not have external ears, and sea lions do. Here's a link with some more info...

The order Pinnipedia (pinniped - fin footed) includes the seals, sealions and walruses. Sea lions and fur seals are in the family otariidae. They have external ears and use their front flippers for propulsion in water. They can tuck their rear flippers under and walk reasonably quickly on land. True seals are in the family phocidae. They use their rear flippers for propulsion and do not have external ears. On land they use their front flippers to move but they are much slower than the eared seals as they have to drag their rear ends.

No, separate and distinct species. Sea Lions, when they are on land, can move about on their appendages on all fours whereas a seal cannot.
