A decently sized bank should be able to do that for you.
But shop around, exchange rates can and will vary.

Worst thing you could possibly do is change at an airport or even a japanese bank, the rates will ream you over.

A lot of Banks can exchange it but you have to check with the branch first as some of them don't carry foreign currency. I've found that I usually have to go to a "Main" branch downtown to get money exchanged.

They will also charge you a fee for the exchange.

I do not know but the bank should be able to tell you this...also you can type in :

cashing in united states dollars for japanese yen

into www.google.com

Your bank can do that for you - or you can do it at the airport when you land in Japan.
