I would like to know why we are still fighting ?

We are still fighting in Iraq, for many reasons. We went in and destroyed there government and now we have to help them to rebuild there society. If we don't we will end up back there in another ten years doing this all again. If we were to stop now all the lives that have been lost thus far will be in vain because they are not ready to stand up as a country on there own two feet.
Also if you think long term...if we are able to help rebuild Iraq into a democratic government then we can hope that their large economical presence in the middle east will help reform the other terrorist countries.
My husband is in the USA Navy and I am proud of him and all our military families who are sacrificing everyday to maintain our American Freedom!

We are still fighting in Iraq because Bush cannot admit that he was wrong in beginning the war in the first place. And the people that supported him are having a hard time admitting that they were wrong as well. I love the few people that did back in the beginning are now saying that it was wrong and we shouldn't be there. If that is how they really feel, do something about it, don't just run your flatps. These are the politicians that allowed Bush to get us into this mess, so they should be the same politicians to do something about it, so that the Democrat that does come in the next term doesn't have to clean up the pile of crap that Bush has left behind. In my view Bush is one of the worst president's this country has ever seen and I hope as a nation we will never have to see again.
The United States needs to learn how to mind our own business like Canada. If we did this, we wouldn't have terrorism. You never hear about Osama like people trying to do off canadians because they have no beef with them. If we just minded our own businesses we would be so much better off as a nation.

We are still fighting in Iraq because when Bush led us to war he didn't have an out plan. He went into something not knowing the complete facts. Now we are stuck in a no win win situation. The only way we will get our troops out will be to set a plan in motion, including a budget and a time line and time limit to get out and stay out, minding our own business. Sure, we need to protect our country, but we also wouldn't have so many enemies and we wouldn't have to go to war if we would stay in our own country and mind our own business. I say all of this with all do respect.

Actually we want to close the War.
But, we do not know how to close the War.....because, it is the prestige issue to accept that we have been defeated by Iraq.

those days, the 1st branch to start a conflict are U.S. military planes, or the many times happening USAF. the 1st to fairly combat on the floor are the Marines, in spite of the undeniable fact that, there are various cases the army gets in on the invasion besides. the great pink a million on D-Day as an occasion.

1.) many people want the troops to finish the job that they started
2.) because the president doesn't know what he's doing
3.) we apparently don't know the meaning of peace
4.) we're doing what we think is best for them because the US just HAD to butt in....

well bush's term is about to end and he's pretty sure a democrat will be the next president. so i guess its his way of putting the democrats in a pile of poop that he created.
