The timing belt in my 93 honda accord went out going about 45mph,i then paid someone 150 dollars to put in the new timing belt and it began to shake and he told me that the valves were bent.....i went to a local mechanic and he told me that the valves in honda accords dont bend...is this true?and how much is an average cost to repair the valves and pay someone to do all this?can i do it myself?

Yes, according to the Gates replacement belt website reference below, you have a 2.2 Liter Single Overhead Cam engine which is an "interference" type engine that probably will suffer valve damage if the timing belt breaks. Do an engine compression check to see if valve damage has occurred. Your belt replacement interval was 90,000 miles and you should replace your water pump at the same time.

A compression test will tell you if the valves are bent. And make sure the mechanic didn't get the belt a notch off.

I think the piston is notched so that even if the belt breaks when the valve is up the valve doesn't get bent. I'm sure there are more qualified mechanics on here to answer your question. Personally I bet your timing is off.
