I have Windows XP and it works great for me. Really. But my question is I can't look at updated sites because,

i need an updated version of Windows and Microsoft won't suport the operating system any more, I am mad. But If I update what can I do to do it as cheap as possible and be happy. I just bought memory for both my computers too. Thanks for all help. Also, any cheap retail stores for XP or the newer one would help too. I'm not a genious as far as computers go. Thanks.

Ms is supporting XP still, 98 has been discontinued.

You can also from IE select tools > Windows Update
If neither work I would guess you have a virus and should run adaware and your anti virus program.

If you have a pirated or bogus version of XP, then you need to buy a copy. If there is a problem with Microsoft verifying your VALID copy, then you should contact Microsoft.

I don't understand 2 things:

1. Why can't you look at updated sites? What's your error message?

2. You said Microsoft won't support the OS any more. If it's an illegal copy or they can't verify it, that's true. BUT, of course they are still supporting XP.

What kind of updated sites are you referring to? I use Windows 2000 and XP on all of my machines and don't have any problems with any sites.
