well goldfish poop a lot, and their urine is very acidic this would mean that you would have to at most change their water and clean the filter weekly, but if the tank doesn't look that bad you can stall. When you first get the goldfishes its best you get them a big tank since all fish don't like to be confined to small spaces. A problem with goldfishes is that you would not be able to put other types of fish with your goldfishes in the same tank because the goldfishes urine is to acidic for other fish to live in. This would either result in the other type of fish getting sick often or most likely dying after a while, unless you are putting your fishes in a large body of water like a backyard home made pond or in some case people use their swimming pool as an aquarium. When feeding your goldfishes you should only give the amount they need. usually you'll find the amounts from the container of the fish food you feed them with, otherwise just ask the the store owner where you brought the fish from. Gold fishes don't know when they are full. If they over eat in long periods of time, they will die. when your goldfish is sick, you'll probably notice that their skin looks like an infection of a diffrent color from their original skin. You'll probably have to go to a pet store to get medication for your fish. the medication would give you instructions. Also when you first get your fish, try not to scare your fish, they can die from that too. Just move slowly around your tank until your fish get use to their surroundings. My fish are so use to me that every time I walk by, the fish go to the surface thinking I' ll feed them. If for some reason you get bored you can aways play around with the surrounding s of your tank, like making a little house for them or anything that fish can swim in and out of. Fishes tend to like stuff like that. Last but not least, when you are changing their water, you must retain at least a 1/4 to a 1/2 of the original water back in the tank so that the fish don't get overwhelmed trying to adapt to the new water you're pouring in the tank.

Good Luck, Have fun with your fish

We have had 2 goldfish for @ 3 years now. To be quite honest, goldfish are easy to take care of because they are so dang tough. Some days I know my kid forgets to feed them. However, the proper way to take care of them is to put them in a tank with filtered or bottled water @ room temp, feed them a small pinch of gold fish food every day and change the water when it starts to get cloudy. Oh, and dont use soap on the tank when you clean it. It can kill the fish if not rinsed really well. Just use a clean rag and hot water.

Easy. 1) research cycling. 2)place it in a fish tank of at least 10, preferably 20 or more, gallons with a proper filter. 3) Feed it once per day, what it can eat in a couple of minutes 4) do a water change once every week or two, vacuum the gravel regularly. 5) Buy a book because everything you should know about fishkeeping will never magically appear in the perfect yahoo post.

Bowls:
Go to a petstore or any place that sells pet appliances.
Get a medium sized FISH BOWL.
take some CLEAN ROCKS and put in the bottom of the bowl.
Add water.
Get some declorifying drops from the fish section and add as many as the directions say.

Feeding:
Buy goldfish food from any pet section in stores.
1 fish, a tiny pinch one or two times a day. 2 fish, a little bit more. 3 fish, a little bit more.
Clean the bowl atleast once a week or when it looks cloudy.
Put it in a place where it can get sunlight every now and then.
Keep it away from cats or other animals.
Keep it away from plants that might fall into the bowl.

"taking care of a fish" is a tricky thing. Especially one as small as a goldfish. the last time I "took care of a fish" i went with a Halibut. Its a bit bigger to accommodate my girth, and, when properly heated in a microwave, can actually be quite pleasurable.

you give it a little flake of fish food and clean out it's tank every so often and that is pretty much it just be sure if you ever get a bata that you keep it seperate from the other fish or it will eat them

goldfish are pretty easy. Put them in a bowl they don't need a filter or air. Feed them a little every other day and they're good. I added them to my tropical tank and they seem to like it. Just don't add them to a bowl with a beta! My mom did that when I was little, it wasn't a pretty sight. ;(
