Anime is short for animation. Anime really is anything animated, and is what we call 'Cartoons'.

Anime = Cartoons

Anime in our American main-stream society is Japanese Cartoons that we've brought over from Japan, either translated into English (Dubbed) or subtitled by fans (Subbed) Most people would categorize Anime as Cartoons brought over from Japan.

Anime, as I've said, is short for Animation. Looney Tunes and Spongebob and so on in Japan is called an Anime. There are now Korean Anime, German Anime, French Anime, American Anime and British Anime (that is called Anime after the term caught on from the stuff brought over from Japan)

What is anime, it is japanese animation that has distinct characteristics.

I'm guessing you mean Hiro Sohma if so he's from Fruits Baskets.

Hiro is probably the most confrontational and aggressive of all the cursed Sohmas on the outside. Often, he acts rude and sarcastic around others and hides many of his true feelings. He is also somewhat like Kyo Sohma. Though seemingly very brash and stubborn for his age, on the inside, Hiro is still just a young boy learning how to cope with complicated issues along with bearing the weight of the Sohma family curse.

However, as the series progresses, Hiro is seen growing tall and becoming much more mature.

Anime is japanese animated shows, I prefer not to call them cartoons. Whats great about Anime is the series usually follows a plot unlike most cartoons which have different plots for each episodes. They're are different types of styles for anime also, so they don't all look the same, but have a common style that sets it apart as anime. Anime is not limited to age. Most cartoons are specialize for kids. Anime is for everyone, sometimes for just mature audiences. Anime can be very graphic. If you come across dubbed anime, i say forget, Anime is much better subtitled.

Good anime series to watch:
Naruto
Bleach

Adult swim on Cartoon Network has some decent anime

youtube.com <---------find the latest episodes after they air in japan
realitylapse.com <-------direct download for manga/anime
stoptazmo.com <--- direct download of manga

bittorrent is a good thing to download anime.

Sodesune....Anime wa Japanese Cartoon desu, shikashi different from Western version of comic. But it is well drawn and could be classified into anime 'fine' art since some of their design and character facial organization is both fluid and beautiful. Anime challenges the imagination, it explores the unknown, creates new dimension of art unachieved by impressionism or cubism of Picasso, it goes beyond Dali's abstract art (what in the world am I babbling about?) Anime is about action, character interaction, it seeks to find the humanity within all of us that reacts to a picture. Anime's biggest acheivement is the fluid and beautiful drawing of human bodies and expresses human beauty in that form. It allows ppl to dream, to discover, to explore, to experience a fantasy, or to see the world from the comic artists eyes. Take for instance Rurouni Kenshin, it has love, war, pain, anger, joy, sadness, infatuation, energy, power, suffering, lust (for power, by Shishio, that is), hopes, dreams, and pure fluid drawing of texture and color. Some of the dialogues in anime are amazing, it makes me run for my notepad to jote them done, there is art as well as wisdom to see things in anotehr perspective.

My anime art style is foundationed on Yuzo Takeda, it really takes alot of practice and dedication. Although I no longer read his comic, his art style has an impact on me, another would be Masashi Kishimoto, I use his style of the symmetric facial proportion for drawing. Also my own style form observing people's face, their body and faces that I find attractive and expressive. If I see someone interesting, I would try to memorize the attractive parts of them, be it their hair, their eyes, their jaw bone, the way their face look up, and when I draw anime, I try to capture the essential soul peaking out of that picture to express beauty---even if the character is just seating down or not moving.

Again, no Hentai (R-rated) or Yaoi (gay) for me as a balanced viewer.

Watch anime, express some serious comic fine art.

Ah, regarding Hiro san? Yare Yare (Oh no).....no idea......Nande otoko (what sort of person?)

anime is actually japanese animation. they're a staple in japanese culture, and recently in the past few yrs, america's been bringing in anime and introducing it to the english-speaking community, while ppl in the chinese speaking community haf come into contact wif anime for a couple of decades already. anyway anime is prob difficult for u to distinguish for the other US-made cartoons, but anime usually haf japanese names, if not japanese ending/opening songs. ah, the best way to know if its anime is to listen to their names. if 90% of the characters haf japanese names, then its definitely anime! btw, i'm referring to those tat haf been dubbed into english. on youtube, most are fansubbed, meaning tat fans who love the series have it subtitled so it can be watched by other ppl who dunno japanese, but appreciates the anime! popular anime includes naruto, bleach, inuyasha, death note, yu yu hakusho, ranma etc. they're reli excellent, esp naruto. the plots are reli good and expans throughout the series, not like more US cartoons where every wk is just a repeat wif slightly diff situations and very slow character and overall plot development
