I think it's our job as men to give women the equal right to go topless too. Let' all try to pass this law as soon as possible. Summer is coming.

Actually, this issue came up in Austin, Texas in the mid-70's. Several activists in the women's movement pointed out that men could walk down the street without a shirt (in the hot Texas weather), but women were not allowed to do so. This was clearly a case of gender-based discrimination. Local law enforcement did not want to test that in court. It was decided that only if a woman's topless state caused a public disturbance (a separate criminal offense) would any action be taken against a woman for going topless. As men, we behaved ourselves and created NO disturbances. (Of course, restaurants and such still had a "no shirt, no service" policy, but that was on private property, etc.)

In New York, this was already made legal. You are correct that we have a double standard. However, I would suggest that we go the opposite direction to fix it. Instead of allowing females to go topless equal to men, I would rather see men keep their shirts on equal to women. If a woman is considered indecent to go topless then so is a man indecent to do the same. One standard of decency for both sexes.

Do not think so lol!

America is way to far behind the times when it comes to such a thing. Americans are proods, I am no diffarent. Would not be caught dead out in public like that...but other countries see no harm in it.

If a women wants to go topless I have boys and a Mr. who (except my gay son) would love to have this happen...if a gal wants to, go for it....of course you realize the 90 year old women are going to do this too....the women who are over 300 lbs can do it too, if this is the case....real women are going to do this, not just the young ones.

You do that and you will have motre rape than you can shake a stick at!
We have 8% Walking Morons that would wind up in Jail for just touching her. Lets face it...that is totally absurd at least in this millenium.

I think men spend entirely too much time obsessing about the upper female anatomy.....It's all muscle, fat and tissue - and by age 50, usually hanging somewhere around the belly button.

With the Christian right and other fundie/conservative groups as powerful as they are now, dream on.

Plus, however much I am for equality of the genders, I'm not sure the nation is ready to take so many bared boobs with equanimity rather than prurience.

Just because there is a law that we could go topless, definitely doesn't mean that we all will.

Well that might make all you little horn puppies happy if you happen to be walking past a Swedish model convention - but seeing some Granny with her totties hanging to her knee caps struttin through Walmart just isn't appealing to anyone!
