My brother did a project on which dish washing soap cut grease the best. He just took several soaps(Dawn, Joy) to test. Place grease and a little water in a bowl and put a few drops of soap to see which one broke up the grease. I think Dawn was the best. Hope this helps.

I did "Is helplessness a learned behavior" in fifth grade. Everyone loved it and the science fair sponsor even sent me a thank you card for doing it.
The book is called "Psychology for Kids II" and how to do the experiment is in it. There are some other good ones in there too.
Hope this helps!

Mentos and Diet Coke. Very cool to watch, but explain why the candy causes the pop to foam up so much so quickly. Try other pops to see if you get same results

I won the Blue Ribon for this one in 6th grade.

"Which fabric detergent is the most flamable on which fabric."

Get 5 kinds of detergent and 6 fabric samples of each nylon cotton, polyester and wool.
Dip 5 of each in the detergent/water mixture and let dry.
Use the last fabric as control.

Light them all on fire for 5 seconds each
Report results.

acid and base. baking soda and vineger. soda is base vineger acid mix the two see what happens
also mento's and one ltr bottle of pepsi do that one outside.
look on line for reasons why this one works as it does.
show what asthma is like inflamation of the tubes. hand out straws ask the people to breath normal and take pulse . take pulse two first fingers on wrist do not use thumb . pulse rate is based on beats per minute. then have them breath threw the straw non stop after only 2 minutes have them take pulse again while breathing with straw. this is what it is like to have asthma
the interior walls of the tubes in the lungs swell making the tube smaller like a straw. see how hard it is too breath . and how hard heart has to work. to get same amount of air to body.
this is a good one as it teaches not to mess around with peoples inhalers and teaches what smoking can cause .
dont have a person do with who has asthma unless they have there inhaler there.
otherwise the straw one is fine for everyone.
one to do with your mom or dads help or teachers help is how to put out a fire. a petroleum fire gas or oil. get an old pot and lid metal ones make sure lid fits . do this outside with the teacher only helping . put one cup of gas in the pot or just cover the bottom not much gas is needed. light gas with a rag with gas on it and a long branch so you dont have to stand on or in the fire.
have another stick with a cup of water put the water on the fire slowly as it would be with a hose . the fire will get bigger.
same deal in house if grease in fry pot gets on fire.
now put lid calmly on top of pot. no air fire goes out.
a great one teaches how to put out fire and not freak out.
dont do the fire ones with out mom and dad one abc fire extinghiser and a lid for the pot do only outside.
i suggest the straw one as it also teaches empathy and not to smoke or mess with someone inhaler ever.
