The general rule is formula for the 1st year, then cow's milk. At one year, be sure it is whole milk b/c this is needed for brain development.

You can start whole cows milk at 1 yr and then switch to 2% at 2 yrs. The little ones need the additional fats for their brains.

Depending on the baby, they may be able to have thin Readybrek now. Just mix it with formula or breast milk. Try it and see if baby can swallow it and not keep spitting it out. If it keeps coming back out, wait 2-4 weeks and try again.

As for weetabix, you can use them as finger-food with out the milk. Once the baby is sitting well and can pick it up on their own they are ready for it. Or make it into a thin porridge and be sure it gets soft before feeding.

In the states we have something like weetabix-mini called bite size shredded wheat. All of mine love eating them dry as a snack.

Take care!

As the first person pointed out it is a general rule to switch them completely at one year. My son' s pediatrician recommended (at his 9 month appt) that we start slowly mixing the formula with the whole milk so he can gradually get used to it. For example, start with 1/4 milk and 3/4 formula, then 1/2 each, then 1/4 formula and 3/4 milk and eventually, closer to one year, all whole milk. I probably wouldn't even start this process until at least 10 months. The main reason being a lot of kids can show signs of milk allergies if given the milk too early. Good luck!

I believe that baby food has a nutritional value. Still the best and most nutritional menu item that a baby can have is breast milk. The baby often remains healthier and it creates a bonding between the baby and the parents that over the counter cannot do.

Absolutely NO cows milk until the baby is 1 year. And when you start feeding the baby cows milk, do so gradually, otherwise they will have a deficiency in iron (per my daughters doctor).

You switch over to cows milk after their 1st birthday. But it's up their doctor on when. They may suggest before. Never switch over until you talk to them.
