I mean they could take up jazz or something. The Rolling Stones, et al are a joke!

Folks, the question was in jest. I'm 46 myself. I do remember Grace Slick saying old men jumping around look ridiculous LOL!

I think they shouldn'y be allowed to wear leather pants after 50, unless they work out. Some of the greatest artists were discovered after 45, so you're question makes no sense to me.

You're an ageist!! lol
I think if that happened I'd be sitting here right now listening to CRAP. The best show I've seen in my life (and i have been to many many concerts) was 2 years ago and it was David Bowie who is 60 years old. He's got more talent in his pinky than most artists today. The Stones still pack stadiums with their tickets selling out at 300$+ not to mention Aerosmith, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, etc etc, etc. Baaaaaaaad idea.

I disagree completely. Jon Bon Jovi will turn 45 tomorrow and he looks better now than he did when the band started 20 years ago. Besides if you make all the good bands retire at 45, there wouldn't be much good to listen to on the radio.

I don't know about retire, look at John Mellaencamp and Tom Petty they still sound good. I do think that the ones that can't perform like they used to should charge less for their concerts than they have been. The Stones came to Louisville Ky last summer and the cheapest tickets where $100. yikes! And I know the people that actually paid didn't get thier moneys worth. Mic Jagger needs to stop wearing tight leather anyways. gag. :)

granted, the stones should hang it up as i haven't cared for anything after the steel wheels tour in '96 (i think), but i would much rather listen to a seasoned, polished group than 90 % of the wannabe poseur garbage that is out right now. if you knock out the groups over 40, you aint gonna have many groups to listen too.

They should retire once their popularity fades. For example, Paul McCartney, at age 45, was still packin' stadiums as much as he did at age 25.

I think that statement is stupid. Anyone who KNOWS music knows that's stupid. Because some of the best musicians currently are over 45.

Case in point: Aerosmith can still rock the house.
