Is there a demand for male life models for artists? I like getting naked and wouldn't mind earning some extra cash doing this. I live in Edinburgh.

Hello,

(ANS) The answer is almost certain 100% YES! I'm certain that if you wanted to work as a life model you would be snapped up (well not literally obviously :-)

Its really about self confidence, & body confidence. Life modelling is perhaps NOT how you expect it too be. There is ALOT of very awekward postures & poses, & in life classes you might be asked to hold a pose for quite a long time like 15 to 20mins. It might not sound much but it can be tough.

**You would have to get used to being looked at in incredible detail, so if you dont like people staring at you it might not be for you. So I hope you dont get too self conscious when naked.

**I trained as a dancer many years ago and so dancer from the Laban Centre in London where I did my training were always in demand by Goldsmiths college art dept for life modelling.

**Go and see if your local college or perhaps Edinburgh University art dept has any interest in working with you as a life model. At the very least go and talk to the head people in the art dept and see what they recommend and whats the best way to approach doing this kind of work. But YES! I think your chances are good and fortunately age is no barrier either which makes a nice change these days.

Good Luck!! Ivan

here is the website for the art school in Edinburgh. They may hire models from time to time. They are likely to know if there is an agency for this type of work. There are may artists based around Edinburgh, with many independent galleries. Not all can afford a model, all the time.. Contact the school first, then try the various artist run galleries.

Well that's how Sean connery started his career!

if you're serious, get in touch with Art Schools / colleges and I'm sure they'll take you up on it. i don't think it pays much though
