I have a friend who told me about Harwin Street in Houston Texas. She said that it has really good prices on jewelry and stuff. I was just wondering if anyone else had shopped there and if it is really as good as my friend is making it out to be before I go over to Houston because I live in Louisiana. Its not a long trip to get there, I guess I just wanna make sure that it is worth it. Thanks for your help!!

Harwin Street is located in SW Houston. I live about 7 minutes from there and is a good place to shop if you are in a budget. There are dozens are stores selling anything you can think of. Like a previous poster said, most of the stuff are fakes and they also don't last long. Harwin Street sorta reminds me of Canal Street in NYC. I personally don't go shopping there but I do know many people who love to go there. I recommend that when you go shopping, you do not pay for the actual price they have listed. There are many stores where you can bargain the price and/or you can go to another store and pay less since many stores sell the same merchandise.

The prices are worth it... if you live in Houston. It really isn't worth your time if you are in Louisiana.

I had my wife's engagement ring made in that area (actually Beechnut, one light south).

There are a lot of jewelers (lots of junk jewelry and bling kind of stuff) on Harwin, and also a lot of leather goods and clothing. A lot of the premade stuff is of low quality and is sold for cheap because it is "irregular." Lots of knockoff stuff too.

The ring we had made (near Harwin, in Houston's second Chinatown) was a combination of two that we had, and the rates were reasonable. I think that was more the jeweler than being near Harwin.

there are many stores/shops located on Harwin. You can find great deals on jewelry, purses, luggage, etc. Just be aware many of things are knock off's or costume jewelry.
