My wife is pregnant, (this is our first) and she wishes to have a natural birth. We have heard from a few people that drinking raspberry tea in the months leading up to the birth can somehow ease the pain. Is this true?

(please forgive any spelling errors, my browser does not support spell check)

not raspberry tea, it must be raspberry LEAF tea. You can also get it in capsules, both are at health food stores. The raspberry leaf tea is not sold in normal stores. It doesn't releive the pain, but it helps the uterus be stronger. You should drink it (or take capsules) throughout the pregnancy, but stop in the last month since it can cause contractions to start early. I have use it with all four of my pregnacies. I was first told about it by a nurse with my first, I was having pre-labor and having lots of contractions. She said it would help make my uterus stronger. I am pregnant with twins, have been using it from the day my husband and I even started trying and I am having less problems than other women I know. Good luck and congratulations.

Raspberry LEAF tea supports the uterus. You should silicit the help of a midwife or just go under a midwives care for your prenatal care and birth. I did for my two girls and will do it again, I believe it is much better to approach prenatal care, and birthing the way a midwife does. Find a good one in your area, there is a national midwifery association and maybe you can fined some info online that way. I have a site called http://www.yourchildrennaturally.com for great natural info on holistic prenatal care, natural childbirth and healthy children

- by the way the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is written in a "watch out for this and watch out for that" way I don't recommend it at all! Get Dr. Sears Book "The Baby Book" really really helpful!!!!!

Well , I dont know about relieving any pain.....

I drank Raspberry leaf tea in the last months b/c it strengthens your uterus allowing you to have a shoter labor. I say labor in the sense that getting from 1 cm - 10 cm is shortened not the pushing part.

It wont relieve pain but it may help her contract and go through labor faster. I only labored for 12 hours including pushing. This is amazing for my family b/c most 1st time moms on my side labor for quite a bit longer than that. Good Luck

No it's for nausea, but if you're like me it doesn't work because tea alone makes me nausious! Get what to expect while you're expecting, to read at the very least!

I have had 6 kids
