I think everybody in the inner city is so busy trying to out gun and out sex eachother that they're too busy to look at the more important stuff. Poverty is not an issue here. Some of the most successfull people in the world have been dirt poor. And I wish race wasnt a factor. As long as your here to be a productive citizen then it shouldnt matter what color your skin is. Leaving a little bit of sperm behind doesnt make you a father, its what you do afterwards, but lets face it, some men dont want to take responsibility for anyone but themselves. They're schumucks and should be ignored. And morality? The standards on morality have changed a great deal since I was a kid. I dont really even know what they are anymore. Anything seems to go. The big problem is that everybody is too busy hating everybody else, that all the small things that could be fixed, get drowned out in the back ground. I doubt there will ever be a solution to this problem.

Poverty and racism are definitely part of the cause of the inner city blues. I think the way people react to these social problems in America is a reflection of the each person for her/his self, ends justify the means, legacy we've inherited. I don't think there is a particular lack of morality that is unique in the inner city's.

your clumping of A & B are inconclusive...poverty and racism is not guranteed A and lack of fathers and morality are not guranteed B. They're just not synonymous.

Now to look at each one individually? you're getting somewhere. Poverty is not going anywhere. Been here since the beginning of civilization and will be here until the end of this age. But i do believe it contributes to the strife of inner city living, because there are some who justify escaping poverty through criminal acts, and there's enough who think this way to make it a generational problem.

racism - univeral. just as prevelent in rural areas as city. so it not only adds to the problems of inner city drama, but it adds to the problems of communities everywhere.

lack of fathers? what about lack of mothers? there are many fathers who are stepping up to the plate of single parenting to make this also a universal issue. i think that families work best with a father and a mother - two adults functioning together to build families and positive role models that children with carry on with them as they become adults. its not a gurantee to inner city struggles, because even good parents can have children stray on the wrong path. but there are also single parents who have children who grow up to break cycles and to become positive contributors to society. again, this is universal, but more prevelent in inner cities.

lack of morality? hit the hammer on the nail with that one. a lack of morals (values) impacts all communities - especially inner cities. being cold hearted and self centered gets a person nowhere, its a lonely world out here when a person uses anyone and anything to get ahead. they may one day rule "their" world, but it will be a lonely reign...nobody likes to live with a scrooge, and its hard to live always watching your back for a turncoat.

A little from column A and a little from column B. The lack of accepting society norms in the inner city leads to poverty and racism. A lack of evolution of the inner city society to be more mainstream seems to be holding them back which in turn means the growth of acceptance into mainstream of this group is also stunted. To get this right it has to be fixed from both angles and right now that isn't happening.

the causes are isolation and lack of access to desperately needed resources, such as jobs, decent housing and education, banks, grocery stores and government support. poverty, racism, female-headed households and immorality are all symptoms of much greater problems that people in the inner city face.

I think it is people who lack the ability to love unconditionally and find forgiveness. People want to hold on to their pride, while believing it is protecting them from being harmed. And, people want to hurt other people because they want other people to feel how he or she is feeling. This constant circle leads to poverty, racism, lack of fathers and the lack of morality. Without love, we are boomed to be stuck in a world that is cold and self-centered.

It's Hollywood's influence on morality & politics ; liberal Democrats in office & lack of positive role models & parents . Liberals have been promoting poverty in inner cities for years by keeping the poor , poor & telling them they aren't fit to run their own lives . "You need them to run it for you" .
