I'm downtown Mpls. It's snowing pretty hard. Does anyone know when the best time to try to make it home will be? Will there be any let up this afternoon?

Should I try to leave early or wait it out until this evening? What is the safest? What are you doing?

I live 20 miles north (slightly west) of MPLS.

this evening its gunna get real bad. I got this from weather.com
.SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR LATER THIS MORNING THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN. THOUGH TRAVELING CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY SAFE DURING THE EARLY TO MID-MORNING...DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WILL SET IN LATER TODAY.

FREEZING RAIN AND DRIZZLE ACROSS THE TWIN CITIES DOWN TO ALBERT LEA AND INTO WESTERN WISCONSIN WILL CREATE SLICK ROADWAYS DURING THE MORNING RUSH HOUR. THIS MIXED PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO ALL SNOW BY MID TO LATE MORNING AS A POWERFUL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LIFTS NORTHEAST FROM KANSAS. THIS SNOW WILL EXPAND ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA AND WILL FREQUENTLY BE HEAVY THROUGHOUT THIS AFTERNOON. NORTHEAST TO NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON UP TO 20 TO 25 MPH. THIS COMBINED WITH THE HEAVY SNOW WILL LEAD TO NEAR OR TRUE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES WITH ZERO VISIBILITY ACROSS THE REGION. THIS INCLUDES DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING RUSH HOUR. CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA AND MOTORISTS SHOULD PLAN ON AVOIDING TRAVEL DURING THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING.

SNOW WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH IN INTENSITY FROM SOUTH TO NORTH TONIGHT THOUGHT ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED INTO FRIDAY. BLOWING SNOW WILL PERSIST INTO FRIDAY AS WELL...CONTINUING TO IMPEDE TRAVEL AND STIFLE PLOWING AND ROAD CLEARING. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS FROM ONE FOOT TO TWENTY INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA... WITH THE HEAVIEST LIKELY IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA...FROM ST. CLOUD SOUTH TO FAIRMONT.

THIS WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS TREACHEROUS TRAVELING CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE AREA...INCLUDING VERY DANGEROUS NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. THIS INCLUDES ALONG I-35...I-94...I- 90...AND IN THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA.
