I am clearing out the loft and want to sell some unwanted things, I thought of selling on e-bay but am unsure of what they get out of it.

Yes, it depends on what you are selling and how you list it (ebay quite often has 10p listing days) plus there is a percentage charge against what price it brings. If I can give you an example, I often sell golf clubs of a value circa £100 and it costs me about £2 to list (inc photos) and about £3 value related charge. Some tips: you lessen (and reduce your market) your chances of selling if you don't include delivery costs (for example,if it's a bulky item and you want the bidder to collect).Plus try and have bidding ending at a dead time-say, 19.00 on a Sunday. Avoid bank holidays and midday endings.Best of luck-I have 250 deals thus far.

Ebay charges you two ways, Three ways if you want to include Paypal.

First, you get a standard listing for free. But if you want to add multiple pictures and graphics, then they charge you.

Once you sell the item, they take a percentage.

If you are a business partner on Paypal, they charge you a percentage of all payments.

It's not a bad program, selling stuff other ways are more of a headache. To me, that is worth the few extra bucks.

You get charged a small listing fee per item usually 35p, your first photo is free then 12p each, its totally worth it I've managed to clear out two lofts and made loads of money, just make sure you charge the right amount for the postage and packaging, ive been caught out a couple of times under charging, its great fun, totally addictive!

There's an Ebay sellers page with details, but basically there's a small fee to list an item and after items sell there is a percent of final price fee.

There's a listing fee, and they also take a percentage of the final selling price. If you want to accept Paypal payments (electronic funds transfer) there's also a fee.

the only cost you will have is in placing your advert on e-bay. There are charges for putting a frame round your item, showing a picture etc. It's not expensive.

first you need to open a eBay account which is free by clicking on 'REGISTER'

once you've registered you need to click on 'START SELLING' link in my eBay.

you need credit card details to register a sellers account but also is totally free.

when you want to sell an item you have to pay eBay a fee on each item. to pay the fees you can use a paypal account.

IT IS FREE TO REGISTER ON EBAY BUT NOT TO LIST AN ITEM
